The Power of Love

“Love.” An intense feeling of deep affection. To some people it comes easy. To others, not so much. People say love can conquer anything. Others say it has the power to heal deep wounds. Is this true? My younger self for one, would not agree. My younger self would gag when seeing couples kissing in the halls and avoid watching romantic movies at all cost, because the repulsive false hope it provides, caused a deep anger and realization, that the real world is nothing like a princess waiting for a handsome prince to come rescue you.

While knowing the difference between lust, attraction, and love, a true healthy relationship can benefit one's overall mental health and stress. A review from the Health and Human Services found that being in a healthy, long term relationship reduced depression in both men and women. “With social isolation and loneliness directly correlated to depression, this study supports the connection between long-term companionship and long-term happiness.” Says Katie Lynch, writer for Hackensack Meridian Health. Neurologist and clinical neurophysiologist, Emad Noor, M.D. also explains that being in a supportive and loving relationship can improve your sleep cycle. A study with almost 700 cohabiting or married adults, aged 35 to 86 years old, found that those who perceived their partner to be empathetic to their needs slept better.

“Love.” A great interest and pleasure in something. Love is more than having a partner. Queen Elsa of Arendelle provided the perfect illustration of this when she expressed a true act of love while saving her younger sister, Princess Anna, from Prince Hans the imbecile. If you are still waiting for that special someone, know that you’re capable of love every single day. How you ask? By acts of service. Acts of service is discussed in “The 5 Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate” by Gary Chapman. Typically, the love languages are used for your partner, but we can use most of them on anyone. Acts of service consist of giving up your time to help someone else with something they’d appreciate. For example, checking in on your neighbor in the midst of a pandemic or giving a stranger a genuine compliment while helping boost their confidence. Not only will you receive a release of dopamine when you are loving towards someone, you will also create your law of attraction.

Law of attraction suggests that one who has positive thoughts and acts will bring positive results into their life and vice versa. While manifesting your law of attraction you want to do six things; Set intentions, have faith, be patient, pour out positivity, set short and long term goals, and finally, take action! If you act with love towards yourself and others, you will receive love. And let us remember what Celine Dion’s voice oustanishly sings, “Sometimes I am frightened, But I'm ready to learn, Of the power of love.”
